Looking for fun and creative dates to do during the quarantine?
For couples quarantined together, you may be thinking the last thing I need is to spend more time with my significant other. Although, you may be sharing space you may not be dating. Dating is spending time that you have specifically set aside to spend as a couple.
Still need to be convinced?
Consistent date nights have been shown to correlate with healthier marriages, increase marital satisfaction, and lower divorce rates. Dating helps to connect you both through shared experiences while creating new memories together. Research has shown that date nights provide more communication opportunities, introduce new experiences into your routine, cultivate romantic love, strengthen your commitment, and reduce stress. With so many benefits it’s the perfect motivation to start dating, and it’s a great way to introduce some excitement into your week.
To get you started I’ve included 7 fun dates that are also quarantine friendly.
1. Attend a Virtual Concert.
With mass public events most likely canceled through the summer, many artists are going online to put on virtual concerts and stay connected with their fans. Click here to get a list of upcoming virtual concerts. Want to kick it up a notch invite some other couples and have a watch party while you jam out in your living rooms.
2. Go to a Drive-In.
Drive-ins bring up so many wonderful childhood memories. With traditional movie theaters shut down we are seeing drive-ins make a come back.
Pack up some snacks and a few blankets, and go see a movie while cuddling up with that special someone.
3. Paint at Home.
Pick up supplies online or at your local craft store. In fact many of the big craft stores are offering curbside pick up. Set up your favorite snacks and drinks and learn to paint your favorite scene. YouTube offers many tutorials so you could make this a monthly thing. Here is one by Katie Jobling where she teaches you how to paint a beautiful seascape.
4. Make a scrapbook or photo album.
Let's face it most of us have 1000's of pictures that just sit on our phones or computers. This is a great time to do something with all those extra photos. With so much bad news why not use this time to create something that showcases your favorite quarantine memories. Struggling to find ideas well your date nights are the perfect thing to document.
5. Get Dressed Up and Attend the Opera.
Did you know the Metropolitan Opera in New York is offering nightly streams of their operas? Make it a night to remember by getting dressed in your best and enjoying a romantic dinner, then settle in and allow yourselves to be serenaded by the beautiful voices of the opera. Here is the calendar for their upcoming streams.
6. Have a Couples Karaoke Battle With Your Favorite Couples.
Gather your friends on Zoom or Google hangouts for a night full of laughter and joy. Have each couple play a song of their choice as you take turns battling it out with your favorite tunes.
Feeling competitive score each round with the winning couple taking away the title of Couples Karaoke Battle Champions.
7. Try a Couples Challenge.
If you are on social media their are so many hilarious and fun challenges coming out. These are so much fun and a great way to connect with your loved one.
Here are some of my favorites: do my make up challenge, couples yoga challenge, couples staring challenge, pie face couple's challenge, the koala challenge, and the Q&A couples challenge. There are lots of these videos on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok and even if you don't do them they are fun to watch.
I would love to hear what you thought about these dates and what ideas you have tried on your own. Leave me a comment below.
